Cheers!

Wine culture needs to be cherished and nurtured. Especially at 1,400 metres.

Ordinary labels and generic wines? You won’t find them here. My cellar holds vinicultural marvels. For elevated enjoyment.

With 300 years of history, I’m already a gem of a South Tyrolean mountain farmhouse. But what rests below, in the meticulously kept chambers of our sommeliers, elevates this ancient abode to the status of a wine hotel. One that truly deserves the name. All my staff share a passion for wine. Perhaps even a slight obsession. Keep reading to find out why discerning wine drinkers love to spend their holidays with me and ignite your own passion for terroir and tears.

The pinnacle of drinking pleasure in the high mountains

Over 450 labels from the old world, focusing on rarities from South Tyrol. 25 extraordinary carafes from the house of Riedel. 2 sommeliers whose wine knowledge is like a bottomless barrel. Numbers are one thing. The experience is something else entirely. Speaking of which, for 300 years, I’ve been regarded as the top wine destination. The dedication and passion exhibited by Helmuth and Benjamin as sommeliers are legendary. The story of how and why the senior boss went from wine abstainer to wine connoisseur is equally remarkable. You can read about it in detail here. So, in my rooms, wine isn’t merely drunk, it’s celebrated. Because the art of wine doesn’t stop at the cellar door. My staff say: true mastery is revealed when they pull the cork out of the bottle.

Oberraindl’s wine weeks and crystal-clear delight

The world of wine is infinitely vast. So, it’s good to find a place where you truly feel at home. The landlords and sommeliers Benjamin and Helmuth are experts in South Tyrolean wines. But they also have a soft spot for other regions of Italy, the French and the odd Austrian. One look from the two of them is often all it takes to find the perfect liquid companion for the evening. But truth be told, they quite enjoy talking. With you. For you. About wine. And sometimes with wine too. There’s a reverent quality to the tradition of hand-blown, specially selected glasses and carafes. Because the wine matters. But so does its vessel. Helmuth, Benjamin, and all the Oberraindlhof staff are dedicated to ensuring your drinking experience is exceptional. And if you are eager to dive deep into the fascinating world of wines and get to know the legendary wine stories from Oberraindlhof, then I highly recommend the wine weeks. These are almost always fully booked, but those who plan ahead are in for a treat. Here’s to pure happiness in a glass. To enjoyment in the very best company. Reserve your favourite room for the next wine week here.

In 2024, Oberraindl’s wine weeks will take place from 19 - 26 October, in 2025, we’ll be celebrating our 20th anniversary and are planning something magnificent.
