Similar to wine music holds the same significance for me as the summit cross. The music of host Elisabeth and the Pfeifhofer brothers is well-known outside of Val Senales hinaus bekannt.
Then, my dears, your hips and hands can take centre stage while the leather seats take a breather. People clap, dance, sing, and sway to the music of the Oberraindl Trio. Sometimes the sun came up again outside, it was so much fun. But let’s start from the beginning. It’s a treasured custom here in Val Senales for musical groups to name themselves after the region from where they started. The three of them are referred to as the ‘Oberraindlhof Trio’ since Elisabeth Raffeiner comes from the Oberraindlhof and the brothers Bernhard and Klaus Pfeifhofer also like me a lot.
From Val Senales to the South Tyrolean hit parade
You can read a detailed account of the origins of the music from my house here and that’s exactly what it is. Here’s a quick version of what happened. Elizabeth has always had a passion for music and she joined a music band and choir at an early age. She then met Klaus Pfeifhofer and his brother Bernhard at school. They got along well and you could tell that the three of them were close whenever smoke began to rise – as we say in South Tyrol when things get lively. Elisabeth had been a mother and hostess for a long time when the Oberraindlhof Trio eventually made an album. Because the farm guests also wanted to take the joyous sounds of South Tyrolean music with them to Hamburg, Rome, or Chicago. And would you believe it? The song ‘Häusl im Gebirg’ made it to the top of the local charts and stayed there for a whole five weeks. If you’re itching to experience this hit for yourself – listening to it won’t be enough – you’ll have to come to visit me in Val Senales.
