Because we have something against plastic. We also have something against food waste, unnecessary chemicals and energy guzzlers. We have a lot to offer in the way of clever ‘green’ solutions and a way of thinking and acting that is characterised by a deep respect for creation. My farm people have noted down for you what your favourite hotel does in terms of sustainability and ecology.
Sustainability label South Tyrol Level 1.
My crew and I are proud to make an active contribution to a sustainable living environment in South Tyrol. We take a conscious approach and implement specific measures to make our hotel and the beautiful surroundings fit for the future. For us, the label is not just an award, but also an incentive to continuously expand our efforts – for South Tyrol, for our guests and for future generations.
Wood. Stone. From here.
The entire hotel is made of wood from Val Senales. The beautiful stone washbasins in the historic rooms come from the Senales stream. A stonemason from the valley skilfully hand-carved the stones for the basins.
Bringing the past into the present.
My rooms are very special. Each of them has panelled walls made from rooms steeped in history. The panelling in the breakfast room, for example, comes from an old farm in Laas in the Vinschgau region. The Raffeinerstube, which was completed in 2022, now proudly displays the panelling from the old Raffeinhof farm near Vernagt in the Schnalstal valley. When there is something to be repaired, our carpenter uses wood from the forest behind the house.
Regional? Local!
We only use the best ingredients in our dishes. And most of them come from the Senales Valley, i.e. from within a radius of 10 kilometres. The kitchen team serves you products from the Senales sheep, meat and smoked specialities from nearby farms, yoghurt, cheese, milk products, apple juice and apple crisps from local farmers.
Thinking outside the box.
No two pieces are alike, and that's a good thing: at the Oberraindlhof restaurant, you dine on recycled ceramics with character. That suits us!
Water-saving miracle
Since October 2022, the Raffeiners have been supporting the company ‘Ecoturbino’ from Naturno. These clever people have invented a water-saving filter for showers.
Out of respect for resources.
After many discussions with (regular) guests and people who are really good at saving energy, the Raffeiners have decided to adjust the wellness opening hours: sauna, steam bath and co. are now open daily from 3:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Nice. But no frills.
Plastic flowers? Absolutely not! Instead, the junior manager transforms natural materials into enchanting creations that are real eye-catchers.
Relaxing. For the planet too.
In your wellness bag, you will find towels and bathrobes that will last the whole holiday if you use them carefully. Our bath slippers are made from 100 per cent cotton or bamboo. Even the packaging is plastic-free.
A clean thing.
In your bathroom, you will find soap, shower gel and shampoo with the EU Ecolabel and the Nordic Swan Ecolabel. This means that the products are free of dyes, parabens and silicones, and the packaging is 100% recycled and recyclable.
Laundry day? On request.
Your towels and bed linen will only be changed when you request it. This saves a huge amount of electricity, water and cleaning agents.
Softer than you think.
You will only find recycled toilet paper in all my quiet rooms. The silky kind. Promise!
Coffee voucher instead of cleaning fairy.
If you go without room service for one or more days, the next coffee is on the house.
A picture of a sheep.
Younger guests can look forward to some special entertainment: the pencil case is felted from the wool of the Oberraindlhof sheep. The ‘grown-ups’ place their fine wines on coasters made from the same, super-sustainable material.
No paperwork necessary.
The hotel app ‘Carlito’ provides information without the ‘paper war’. This saves paper and ink. If the people at the farm do need to print something in the office, they use paper that has been bleached without chlorine and is recycled.
People. Friends.
A valley lives from its community. To ensure that this remains so in the future, the Raffeiners have been involved for many years in the Schnals Sports Club and the South Tyrol Alpine Club, Schnals local branch. They also support the valley's fire brigades, the music bands, the Schnals church choir and the friends of the nativity scene with funding.
E-mobility? No problem.
At the Oberraindlhof, we are well prepared for this: my crew have set up a charging station for electric cars so that you can conveniently recharge during your stay.
Mobilcard
And if you want to go without your car during your holiday, you can conveniently leave it at my farm. With the Mobilcard, you have the opportunity to discover South Tyrol in a stress-free and environmentally friendly way – thanks to unlimited use of public transport throughout the country.
Any more ideas?
A breath of fresh air is good for you, as are new impulses. If you have any further suggestions, my farm people look forward to your message!
